Professional Experience

Dr. Manolo Piccirilli is a specialist in Neurosurgery, focusing on the treatment of cranio-encephalic and spinal pathologies. He has always worked at Policlinico Umberto I in Rome, serving as a senior physician in the Neurosurgery Unit (UOC) in Rome, performing both elective and emergency surgeries at the Level II Emergency Department (DEA). At this facility, he has carried out approximately 1,500 operations as the primary surgeon, gaining extensive experience in managing neurosurgical pathologies in all their complex varieties.

Education

He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome and specialized in Neurosurgery at the University of Rome "La Sapienza." During his training, he completed a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic Center of Excellence in Rochester, Minnesota, under Chairman David Piepgras, earning a certification in microvascular suturing (supervisor William Ending). He also completed a PhD program at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in "Neurosciences, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Pathologies of the Auditory System." He was awarded a research grant at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" for the project "Use of mesenchymal cells from adipose tissue in spinal surgery: in vitro selection, culture on plates, and reimplantation in patients."

Author of more than 50 scientific papers published in international scientific journals and accessible in the "PubMed" database, as well as a speaker at various national and international scientific conferences.
